The Coon Joint Replacement Institute is one of the highest volume centers north of San Francisco performing the direct anterior approach (DAA) for hip replacement, a minimally invasive technique that requires a 3-4 inch incision located at the front of the hip, as compared to the 8-12 inch incision used with a more traditional approach. More importantly, the direct anterior approach does not require detaching any of the muscles or tendons, which ultimately results in better outcomes, more accuracy and a quicker recovery for the patient.

The Institute has earned the Joint Commission Gold Seal of Approval™ for Knee Replacement and the Joint Commission Gold Seal of Approval™ Advanced Certification for Total Knee and Hip Replacement. It is registered as a Blue Distinction Center® from Blue Shield of California and Aetna Institutes Of Quality® (10Q) Total Joint Replacement Program.
